Mission Teams

Throughout the year we host mission teams and visitors from all over the world. The duration of visits ranges from a couple of days to several months. Our hope is that you will enjoy God’s creation while sharing the love of Christ throughout the region.

PLANNING AHEAD

We are excited that you have chosen to participate in a mission trip to CDA! Now comes the first challenge–itinerary planning. We want to help make this process as easy as possible for you and your church. From this point forward our two American missionary families on the premises will be in regular contact with you about specific details related to your trip and ministry project. So, let’s dive in!

WEATHER

Rainy Season: November – April

Dry Season: May – October

Temperatures are about the same year round, with lows in the mid 40s and highs in the low 80s.

PASSPORT

Everyone needs a valid passport that does not expire within 6 months of travel dates. Applications can take 6+wks. Please plan accordingly. The Peruvian travel visa is granted upon arrival in Lima.

INSURANCE

Travel insurance is recommended, but not required. Each group is responsible for purchasing their own third-party insurance if so inclined.

VACCINES

All normal vaccines are recommended for travel to Peru. You do not need Malaria meds or Yellow Fever vaccine to enter Peru or visit Casa del Aguila and Machu Picchu.

ALTITUDE & TERRAIN

Peru is a beautiful & fun missions destination; however, the spectacular views are generally a result of rugged mountainous terrains. Cusco is located at about 11,000ft and CDA at 8,100ft. High altitude affects people in different ways. Visits to CDA generally entail walking and perhaps manual labor, depending on your team’s ministry project. While we make every effort to keep you comfortable, this is not a five-star resort.  You may consider asking your doctor for medication that prevents or lessens the affects of altitude sickness.

EXPENSES

AIRFARE

International airfare will vary by season, availability, and U.S. departure city, but an average ticket is $1100. A domestic flight from Lima to Cusco will also be required at a cost of around $200. There may be a need for a 1 night hotel stay in Lima, due to your specific flight arrival/departure times. Ramada Inn at the airport has rooms for $130 per night (double occupancy).

TRANSPORTATION

Ground transportation is required to reach CDA, which is approximately 50 miles from Cusco. It is $20 per person roundtrip.

FOOD & LODGING AT CASA DEL AGUILA

Food, lodging, and bottled water are provided at CDA for a daily rate of $45 per person. Accommodations are dormitory style bunk beds, and we can comfortably house 20 people. Clean linens and towels are provided and the hot water is created by wood burning boilers. Meals are served family-style and they provide great times for prayer and devotional sharing, planning, and reflecting on the Lord’s work each day.

TRANSLATORS

Most people in Peru speak Spanish; however, many in the rural areas speak Quechuan, the native Incan language. Translators will be provided as needed at a cost of $20 per day per translator. Most groups require 2-3 translators.

TOURISM

A visit to Machu Picchu is a must. A one day visit costs about $250 per person. A 2 day visit is $300. Cusco also boasts some amazing white water rafting, and it’s very easy to book a trip into the jungle. Every group has different tourism desires; but we are willing and able to book anything for you!

FOOD & LODGING IN CUSCO

Again, due to your team’s specific travel dates and tourism needs a night in Cusco may be required. There are many wonderful places to eat in Cusco. On average you will spend about $15-$20 a day on food. Most of our teams stay in one of two hotels: Hotel San Agustin International or Hotel Dorado San Agustin. We have a long established working relationship with each. Double rooms are about $80 a night.

MINISTRY PROJECTS

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to go on a mission trip. We have many different projects that are going on and we can always use a helping hand. Projects and ministry opportunities are limitless. The ICM Team will help match your gifts and your ministry calling to the needs of CDA.

*There may be additional expenses incurred due to your team’s specific size, ministry project, and tourism interests.*

UPON ARRIVAL

Upon arrival, you will be transferred by bus down to CDA. When you arrive at the farm you will be offered herbal tea and be asked to rest for awhile. While you relax our hospitality director will give you an overview of the week’s activities and answer any questions you may have.
